I have six blogs with thousands of images without any alternative text at all! First, I used Image Alt Text to add simple alt text in bulk to all images. This took a matter of a few minutes for each site. Then I went back and manually rewrote the alt text to be readable and meaningful. Needless to say, this took considerably longer.
